Das Kold Shapes Ikon ist das neue Flagschiff von Mario Rodwald. Ist eindfach nur eine Carbon Version des Polar, oder hat Mario auch versucht den gesammtes Carbon Board Markt ein bisschen von hinten aufzuräumen? Für uns ist definitv zweiterres der Fall.
Natürlich hat Kold Shapes den sportlich komfotablen Character des Polars komplett beibehalten, wieso auch nicht!? Aber wieso dann ein Carbonb Board? Punkt 1 auf jeden Fall das Gewicht, das Ikon kommt wahnsinnig filigran leicht daher und macht so einen unheimliche hochwertigen Eindruck abseits des Wassers. Ist auf dem Wasser werden besonders Air Trick und Old School Liebhaben ein dickes grinsen bekommen. Das Ikon hat einen explosiven Pop und durch sein leichtes Gewicht Flippt es nur so von deinen Füßen an die Hände.
Der im Vergleich doch deutlich weichere Flex und die Verbindung des Carbons und der vom Polar bekannten Flachsfaser Stringer, machen das Board auf der anderen Seite, aber komfortabler als viele andere Carbon Boards auf dem Markt.
Wieso Polar, wieso Ikon?
Diese Frage haben wir uns auch gestellt und nach einiger Zeit haben wir gemerkt sie ist garnicht so schwer zu beantworten.
Das Polar ist weiter das Allroundigste Board, was wir kennen, und macht sogar bei Wakestyle Moves eine gute Figur.

CO2 Neutral
Our aim is to design the highest performing boards and at the same time reduce our impact on the planet. We believe that many of Mother Nature ´s materials such as FLAX and organic resins actually enhance the performance of our products. In addition we offset all our CO2 emissions during the production by ARKTIK.
Flax Fibre
The FLAX FIBRE used in the board is a sustainable and cellulose based composite which is highly efficient at the same time. Not only does it reduce the carbon footprint of the board but also adds special mechanic properties compared to carbon or glass fibre. During our R&D work we designed different stringers to support our the flex patterns for high impacts!
Wood Core
The POLAR is based on a CNC precision milled Paulownia WOOD CORE. This is the lightest and healthiest option and further enhances the flex patterns build into the board. To minimise the weight of the board we also milled a 3D top construction!
Double Concave
The DOUBLE CONCAVE offers maximum support during take off and landings! Furthermore it is designed to support the channel construction and provide extra grip when launching into flat spins off a kicker wave - and enhances early planning!
Ratchet Bindgins
The RATCHET BINDING is the easiest system to adjust while riding. The ratchet allows you to tighten or loosen the strap within seconds! To maximise the comfort we equipped the inside and edges of the strap with MEMORY FOAM.
Air Dampening Pads
The AIR DAMPENING system integrated into our pads is designed to absorb any shock while landing! The air cushion sits underneath and around the heel to offer maximum comfort - no matter if you are landing megaloops or simply ride in choppy waters. To further enhance a perfect stance we equipped the pads with a grippy 3D surface. The TOE RIDGE presses your toes towards the MEMORY FOAM of the binding. We could go on about all the different stance options - but just step in and try yourself!
Anti negative Flex Stringer
?The stringer made out of FLAX FIBRE runs from tip to tip across the whole deck and minimises the negative flex of the board. Thus the stringer prevents tip dives when landing with lots of speed or riding with bindings! Actually this is why the POLAR can be so flexible and at the same time offer the performance for extreme landings!
Absorption Flex
The 3D channel and top construction of the board does not only minimise the weight but also provides extremely precise flex. The board is designed to offer super soft landings and maximum comfort at maximum speed!
Continuos Rocker
We added quite a bit of extra CONTINUOUS ROCKER than the usual freeride board offers. This is ideal for soft landings and precise take off in all conditions. Furthermore it adds manoeuvrability and smoothens the ride during choppy conditions!
Grip Channels
The GRIP CHANNELS integrated into the DOUBLE CONCAVE and the tips allow you to control the edge at any time - even when launching completely overpowered into you next WOO record! The extra grip enhances upwind abilities and allow you to ride smaller fins to ease fast landings.
